Wilds on Bovada Slots

The special side of wilds. Wild symbols are one of the most loved features of online slots. Acting just like jokers in a deck of cards, wild symbols can appear on the reels of most slots, and when they do they can substitute for almost all other symbols in the game – with the exception often being scatters and bonus icons. Far from being a simple substitute symbol, though, there are plenty of wilds with additional features which appear in online slots.

New players get welcomed with a very generous Bovada Bonus, matching your initial deposit with both slots and table games, so there’s two of these bonuses available initially, and you can collect each of them a total of 4 times, adding up to 8 bonuses worth up to a total of $3000 in free casino cash. Here’s a brief run-down of what wilds you can expect to find in any modern slot machine.

Expanding and stacked wilds

Commonly found on the reels of slots are expanding and stacked wilds. Stacked wilds are several wilds stacked on top of the other, whilst expanding wilds can expand up and down an entire reel when used in a winning combination, taking over the whole reel. You can find expanding wilds on The Walking Dead Slot Machine.

Multiplier wilds

Multiplier wilds are rather self-explanatory. These symbols can boost your winnings by adding multipliers to them when these wilds appear in winning combos. You can find multiplier wilds on Buffalo Slot Machine.

Scatter wilds

Scatter wilds take on the mantle of both scatter symbols and wilds. They can substitute for all other symbols (usually without exception), the can count no matter where they land on the reels, and they can trigger bonuses in most slots. A lot of RTG slots have scatter wilds. Most RTG casinos allow US players.

Walking or spreading wilds

Walking wilds first appeared about 5 years ago. When they appear, these wilds will often trigger re-spins, and “walk” their way across the reels, offering re-spins as they go until they disappear from the reels.

Spreading wilds

Spreading wilds can jump to other symbols on adjacent reels. They usually appear on the third reel and may spread to the second and/or fourth reels, to help you land a prize.

Overlaying wilds

Overlaying wilds are relatively new to the casino world. These are wild symbols which appear on top of regular symbols. By doing so, you are essentially getting two symbols in one – the original icon will still appear in its winning combination, but it may have an overlaying wild on top of it, which can present you with multiple winning combos.

Sticky or frozen wilds

Sticky or frozen wilds are essentially the same thing. Sticky wilds usually remain in place for a pre-determined number of free spins, or re-spins when they appear on the reels. Frozen wilds tend to appear only during free spin bonuses, and will typically remain in place for the duration of the bonus round.

Random wilds and Mystery wilds

Random wilds and Mystery wilds are essentially the same thing, too. Random wilds can appear due to a randomly triggered event and will take over a handful of symbols on the reels. Mystery symbols work in a similar fashion, with any Mystery symbol on the reels theoretically capable of turning itself into a wild. The wilds are purely offered by chance, though.

Colossal wilds

Colossal wilds appear as gigantic wild symbols, anything from 2×2 up to 5×5 in size. They can even occupy the entire screen. Winnings tend to be enormous when colossal wilds are played with.

Cloned wilds

If you happen to be playing colossal reels or a second reel-set, it is entirely possible that you may encounter cloned wilds. When wilds show up on the main reel set, they are often duplicated over on a second reel. Similarly, slots with linked reels can also display cloned wilds on multiple reels to help you land a win.
